In poker online poker, the underdogs present a very interesting slant to the game. Sometimes, provide a certain kind of thrill which makes live casino and poker all the more interesting.

In poker, the underdog could mean two things 1). a hand that will not possibly win or a dog 2). King-Nine in Texas Holdem is called a dog or Fido.
Making money playing poker could take the fun away from Aussie casino games. This is because the focus would be more on the winning rather than playing. In some instances, losing could be more fun actually. But making a miracle comeback is so much more than either losing or winning.

Poker is always a fun game. Even professional players admit to this. They prefer playing poker any time of the day than working as a miner or in the gas station, and this is now easier with online poker sites.

However, in poker, fun is not an end that most would likely pursue. Money is at stake, sometimes huge sums of money. One cannot afford to lose large amounts.

After all, winning poker redounds to winning money. The real fun is using the money made from the poker tables. Just like ordinary jobs, poker should be fun. But just because a job is fun does not mean you should not be doing your best at it. Same principle applies with poker games whether online poker or land-based.

If you want to become a professional poker, it is okay to think that the poker job is more fun and exciting than job at the gasoline station. But the right away to approach a poker game is not to think of it as a fun job.
It is expected that you may lose from time to time. Being an underdog is just a normal part of the game. The good thing is people always root for the underdogs. But you should not aim to be an underdog just to be more likeable. If you are not a poker player, never bet your money on the underdog all the time or you might find yourself having money troubles later.

It is part of the professional poker players job to determine the mathematical and interpersonal proper move. Even if his hand is weaker than his opponents, he knows how to turn things to his advantage and refuse to become the underdog. His bet is that the opponent would not likely call. And in order to make this a reality, he needs to bluff or do other stuffs that will fool the opponent. This is not fun for a professional player. As a matter of fact, it is a nerve-wracking scene right there. But he has to keep his faade and demeanour perfectly calm in order to succeed at his job.

We like to play poker online at PokerRoom.com. Free and real money poker and casino games with great sign up bonuses!

The Russian online poker community
1 February 2009 Betfair announced in a Wednesday press release that it has opened its online client to the Russian poker community. On Wednesday Betfair, which boasts of the world’s biggest sports betting exchange, opened it doors to the Russian online poker community. With the emergence of a myriad of Russian pros on tour, the Eurasian nation has become a hotbed for new poker talent.”Up until now, the clients could only view information on the poker client and promotions in English, Spanish, German, and Italian, ” said Bruce Stubbs Head of Betfair Poker. ”However, we are delighted to start offering updated information to our Russian clients.”As of yet Team Betfair doesn’t boast of any Russians, Team PokerStars Pro already had a couple from the Russian Federation in the stable; 2008 Aussie Millions winner Alex Kostritsyn and WSOP bracelet winner and 2007 final tabler Alex Kravchenko. This year, PokerStars added powerhouse Ivan Demidov, who became the first player to make both the WSOP and WSOPE Main Event final tables, finishing in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Fellow Russian Stanislav Alekhin joined Demidov at the WSOPE final table, finishing as runner-up. The WSOPE was sponsored by Betfair.Full Tilt also has a couple red pros from Russia. Nikolay Evdakov burst onto the scene in 2008, setting a record at the WSOP with 10 cashes for the series. Breaking Humberto Brenes and Phil Hellmuth’s cashing record earned him a deal with Full Tilt. The WSOP women’s champ also plays on Full Tilt. Svetlana Gromenkova moved from Moscow to the U.S in 2002, went pro in 2005 and claimed her first bracelet in 2008, when she captured the Ladies Event title.”The Russian market is a fascinating one and one that continues to produced very talented individuals,” continued Stubbs. ”We saw a very strong showing from this region at this year’s WSOP Europe event which we currently sponsor. We hope that the new Russian client shows our commitment to developing and producing new offerings and hope to announce more in the coming year.”The Betfair announcement comes less than two months after PokerStars announced the formation of the Russian Poker Tour (RPT) The RPT just kicked off their inaugural event in St. Petersburg, a $5,000 that will wrap on Feb 1st. After St. Petersburg, it’s off to the $10K event in Moscow Feb.22-28. OPN Staff All trademarks and copyrighted information contained herein are the property of their respective owners.

Pius Heinz wins 2011 WSOP
The 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event title has finally been claimed. Pius Heinz, a 22-year-old professional poker player from Cologne, Germany, took the title holding Ace-King against Martin Staszko’s Ten-Seven. Neither hand improved and Heinz took home $8.7 million with ace-high. Not only was Heinz the first German to win the Main, he was the first to sit at the final table. Over 6800 players from 85 different nations started the event over 13 days, with a prize pool of $64,540,858. The top 693 cashed and the tournament broke, as usual, over a period of five months between the body of the event and the final table, the “November Nine.” Notably, third-place finisher Ben Lamb was looking to culminate a sick, sick run at the WSOP. He place in five consecutive tournaments, making the final table of four of them, and winning one of them. This unheard-of streak locked him up solidly for the WSOP Player of the Year title. For the first time, the Main Event was broadcast (almost) live. There was a delay of several minutes to limit the ability of players to exploit the private pocket card cameras. Although this could potentially allow players to learn about very recent hands during breaks, creating a unique angle on the most important final table of the year. The continuing high turnout of the WSOP is taken as proof that the allure of poker continues throughout the world despite a federal crackdown against online poker. # Player Earnings Country 1 Pius Heinz $8,715,638 Germany 2 Martin Staszko $5,433,086 Czech Republic 3 Ben Lamb $4,021,138 United States 4 Matt Giannetti $3,012,700 United States 5 Phil Collins $2,269,599 United States 6 Eoghan O’Dea $1,720,831 Ireland 7 Bob Bounahra $1,314,097 Belize 8 Anton Makiieveskyi $1,010,015 Ukraine 9 Sam Holden $782,115 United Kingdom Copyright 2012 Ace Nine, LLC Legal | Contact Us | Site Map

Strategy with Kristy: Jared Tendler on the Mental Game of Poker Part 2
December 22 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Jared Tendler on the Mental Game of Poker Pt 1 Strategy with Kristy: Andrew Seidman Discusses His Book, Easy Game Strategy with Kristy: Andrew Robl Discusses Televised Cash Game Hands Share It Tags Poker Players, Poker Strategy, PokerNews Podcast, Psychology of Poker Print Jared Tendler is the author of The Mental Game of Poker and has coached more than 200 players from around the world. Equipped with a masters degree in psychology and years of experience as a performance coach, Tendler has become one of poker’s most respected teachers of the mental side of poker, which includes tilt, emotional control, confidence, motivation, and fear. Last week on Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point, Tendler came on the show and discussed how to approach improving your mental game, the Adult Learning Model, and more. This week, host Kristy Arnett put into practice a few tips she learned from Tendler and discusses her experience. Here is a snippet from the interview: Personally, I feel like my confidence changes so much. Sometimes I feel unstoppable and other times I feel like I can’t do anything right. Can you talk a little bit about confidence and the importance of finding middle ground with it? Confidence is huge. The key thing to keep in mind with confidence is that we’re looking for it to be stable, meaning that it doesn’t swing too high or too low. Those times when you feel unstoppable are almost not as real as the times when you feel like nothing can go right. Neither one is accurate. When you feel unstoppable, some players feel like they can beat anybody like the Iveys or the Durrrrs of the world, but that’s not true. It’s an illusion, but it feels that way. In that moment, being carried away by that emotion can be very destructive on the high side. And the same thing on the other side. When a skilled player like yourself, who’s a proven winning player, feels like they can’t doing anything right, that’s as much of an illusion as feeling like you can beat anyone and you’re unstoppable. What we’re trying to do is move you more toward the middle, and the middle is not being numb. This is key because like I said last week, emotion is not the problem. Being neutral and being robotic is not what we’re looking for. We’re looking for your confidence to be much more focused around the things that you control because in the short run in poker, you can very easily have your results fueled by variance in one way or the other. If your emotions and confidence goes along with it, it will be a roller coaster of emotion along with the roller coaster of your results. That means your confidence is perfectly tied to results. What we’re trying to do is create it much more around your skill. Focus your evaluation of your game, not around how much money you won or lost in a single day, but instead on your skill. You have to be able to recognize how well you played or how poorly you played, specifically what mistakes were made, specifically what difficult spots you got yourself into that you made good decisions for. Being able to see the subtle nuances in your game and the subtle nuances in your opponent’s game, allow you to kind of tease out the results in a slightly different way than just money. That’s important to maintain that stability because if you’re able to know definitively, on a day when you lost five or six buy-ins, that you played as well as you could and that none of your C-game or B-game mistakes showed up, then you can walk away feeling pretty good. I’m not saying you feel good losing money, but you can walk away knowing that on a very difficult day, you were able to withstand those beats, withstand all those difficult hands and spots, and played as well as you could. That’s something that creates a lot more stability for confidence in the long run. Tune in every week for new episodes of Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point.

What Are You Doing You Dafty Old Cow?
published on 04/15/11 at 6:25 am Today marks the one year anniversary of the passing of a PokerPlasm Legend, Handsome Eddie LeFrancois. Known for his crude, unrelenting, and derogatory poker playing style, he was a breath of fresh air in a poker world filled with donkeys, self-appointed experts, and Euro trash. He was always there to listen and give his opinion. If you needed a freeroll to enter to get your mind off the day, he would find one. And his gambling exploits were always good for a laugh. To honor his memory, Eddies good friend, RudyRudeth, plans on enjoying a game of late night poker. Hopefully hell be watching over me and Ill kick arse but its more likely hell be watching and yelling what the f#$* are you doing you dafty old cow! Ahhh, the memory of Eddie lives on! Here is to you, our good friend! Related posts: Remembering A True Gentleman In The Game Of Life

Marrakech is Next Stop of WPT
The World Poker Tour stops in Morocco this week, in Marrakech. There will be top poker players competing for some great prize money. Last stop was Jacksonville, and the next stop is Prague, giving the WPT players very little time to take a break and catch their breath, but the possibility of winning the prize money certainly makes up for that. The tournament will be hosted at the very impressive Casino De Marrakech. It is expected that not only will this weeks leg of the tournament be a very high-class one, but that the poker playing is also likely to be impressive. As one of the more glamorous venues for the World Poker Tour, Marrakech is a place that players really feel the atmosphere of a big-time tournament, and the possibility of some big wins to go with that exciting feeling. The top three players on the WPT leader board at this time stand as Will Failla, Bobby Oboodi, and Jin Hwang. Phil Ivey has also been a top contender in this years World Poker Tour. He has found himself at nine of the final tables during the tour, and is expected to keep on showing a strong game. Scotty Nguyen is also playing well, with finishes at eight final tables this season. The most cash prizes have gone to Barry Greenstein and Lee Markholt, who may not have won any titles, but have been doing very well winning cash prizes. Other notable players to watch in Marrakech are Connor Drinan, Vitor Coelho, and Dwyte Pilgrim, who all did very well and were noted in the Jacksonville leg of the World Poker Tour. The buy-in for the main event is set at 3,000 Euros. Although it is unknown what the prize pot will be at this time, it is likely to be a fairly impressive pot that will be won at the end of the four days of poker competition.
