In poker online poker, the underdogs present a very interesting slant to the game. Sometimes, provide a certain kind of thrill which makes poker all the more interesting.

In poker, the underdog could mean two things 1). a hand that will not possibly win or a dog 2). King-Nine in Texas Holdem is called a dog or Fido.
Making money playing poker could take the fun away from Jogos de Casino games. This is because the focus would be more on the winning rather than playing. In some instances, losing could be more fun actually. But making a miracle comeback is so much more than either losing or winning.

Poker is always a fun game. Even professional players admit to this. They prefer playing poker any time of the day than working as a miner or in the gas station, and this is now easier with online poker sites.

However, in poker, fun is not an end that most would likely pursue. Money is at stake, sometimes huge sums of money. One cannot afford to lose large amounts.

After all, winning poker redounds to winning money. The real fun is using the money made from the poker tables. Just like ordinary jobs, poker should be fun. But just because a job is fun does not mean you should not be doing your best at it. Same principle applies with poker games whether online poker or land-based.

If you want to become a professional poker, it is okay to think that the poker job is more fun and exciting than job at the gasoline station. But the right away to approach a poker game is not to think of it as a fun job.
It is expected that you may lose from time to time. Being an underdog is just a normal part of the game. The good thing is people always root for the underdogs. But you should not aim to be an underdog just to be more likeable. If you are not a poker player, never bet your money on the underdog all the time or you might find yourself having money troubles later.

It is part of the professional poker players job to determine the mathematical and interpersonal proper move. Even if his hand is weaker than his opponents, he knows how to turn things to his advantage and refuse to become the underdog. His bet is that the opponent would not likely call. And in order to make this a reality, he needs to bluff or do other stuffs that will fool the opponent. This is not fun for a professional player. As a matter of fact, it is a nerve-wracking scene right there. But he has to keep his faade and demeanour perfectly calm in order to succeed at his job.

Recent population statistics have shown that the recession has created a new baby boom of similar magnitude to the original baby boomers conceived following the end of the Second World War. The argument is that people are finding it too expensive to go out so instead they are making their own entertainment indoors.

It seems that what goes for babies also goes for bingo and possibly for similar reasons. Some say online bingo is more fun anyway. Whatever the reason, online bingo is booming.

It is anticipated that online bingo revenues will increase by over 20% over this year and by a similar or greater amount over next. By the end of 2009 yearly revenue will total 795 million rising to 978 million for the year ending December 2010.

Analysts believe that online bingo is still in its infancy and its novelty has served to protect it from the recession and downturn in spending. The growth of online bingo has been driven by demand from players. In marketing terms the growth has come from consumer pull with which suppliers have simply had to keep up.

Some operators have seen even steeper rates of growth; revenues at William Hill on bingo and skill games increased by a staggering 50% during the first six months of 2009. The company is predicting that this rate of growth will be maintained over the rest of this year and throughout next year. Revenues for Littlewoods bingo were up over the same period.

The consensus of opinion is that in the future online bingo will become equivalent to online poker in terms of revenue. This should happen over the next five years. Unlike online poker, which is played predominantly by men, online bingo players are mainly female. In terms of the recent registrants who have created this recent bingo boom, around 70% of them are female and are aged between 25 and 45, with the median age being 33. They dont tend to be high rollers either, as many of them bet no more than 10p on a game.

Poker Chip Sets – Where did it all start?

Keeping a straight flush or better yet, a royal flush in your hand is indeed a sign of a good hand. You can play all you can, stack poker chips over and over again, but did it ever strike you how this game of poker started? It has always been stated by philosophers all over the world how important it is to know your historical roots. One poet even cryptically said that he who cannot draw over three thousand years is living from hand to mouth, whatever that means.

To save you from the trouble of understanding that line, it simply means that you have to know your historical roots in order to become a human being, or a true poker player for this matter. In a game of poker, you surely don’t want to look like a sore loser right? Yes, it is understandable that studying history can become so boring. It must be so tedious that you must have slept your history classes way back in school, unless you are a history aficionado. In any case, poker chips and threrefore poker chip sets also have a history of their own, which is quite interesting to say the least. So why not take a little break from the games and know a thing or two on how poker chip sets came to be.

Poker Chip Sets – A History of Poker

First, it is a good idea to start the lesson with poker itself. There would not be any poker chip sets if there was not any game to play with them, right? Anyway, the history of poker is arbitrary, just as a heated game of it with drunken friends who are trying to cheat each other. Truth is that the game does not seem to have an origin, so how can you learn about the history of poker chip sets? Do not be saddened, because that just shows how old poker is today. Anyway, the first reference to the game in history was through a book of rules written by Jonathan H. Green back in 1834, where the game was an addiction among Mississippi natives.

It was even called the cheating game, no wonder. At least you now know that the game did not start in Las Vegas and that the game has involved a bit of cheating ever since it came into being. To continue, the game was first played with only 20 cards, using only the top five highest cards, namely the aces, the kings, the queens, the jacks, and the tens. During the time that Green was writing about the cheating game, poker was the number one game along the Mississippi River.

Poker Chip Sets – The Evolution of Poker

The game has evolved a lot of times since, starting from 20 cards, then going to 32, and finally reaching 52, plus 2 additional jokers. Still, the origin of the word poker remains a subject of debate. Some say that it came from the French poque, others claim that it must be the German pochspiel, while another group thinks that it is the Hindi pukka. Whatever it is, there is still an element of poker in it, all of the words starting with the letter P, perhaps? It does not end there yet, because there are some explanations that trace it to the English slang poke, which is no less used to describe the activities of a pickpocket.

The pickpockets added an R to disguise themselves. A more occult and magical point of view is believing that the word came from hocus-pocus. Now there are so many ruckuses as to how poker came around to be called poker, but it is still interesting to know that there are actually people who would flush each other just for the sake of naming things, not to mention the handful of foreign terms that you now have for your own use. Now how about the poker chip sets?

Poker Chip Sets – What came before poker chips?

In the early beginnings of the game, different gamblers had different currencies. Coins and gold nuggets were first used a long, long time ago. Widespread gambling had begun around the 18th century, and at that point, the differences in coins became a problem. To come up with a solution, gambling places, but not necessarily casinos, gave the gamblers an alternative. They used bone, clay, ivory, paper, shellac, and wood as substitutes. Yet another problem was created because of this. The cheating gamblers turned to forgery, which forced gambling establishments to brand their own substitutes in some way to make them unique in some way.

Come to think of it, poker chip sets were, in a sense, created to keep those cheaters away. But it doesn’t change the fact that even when casinos become popular, chip forgery was still an activity not unknown to gamblers and establishments alike. Now that is the reason why each casino has its own specially designed chip that are extremely hard to copy. Indeed, it has become a challenging but exciting task to have their own brand of poker chips. It is also worth mentioning that by this time, the poker chip sets are now of various sizes and materials, depending on the value of a certain chip.

Poker Chip Sets – Technology

With the progression of technology, there are now many manufacturers of poker chip sets which serve many casinos. The chips also had a standard size and weight, which is 39 millimeters in diameter and 8.5 grams to 20.5 grams. Now the chips also come in various quality materials and beautiful designs. Some even have microchips implanted on them, just to put a stop to forgery. These chips are not only available in casinos, but they have also become available to the public. It was because of the seemingly endless frenzy with poker that poker chip sets can now be seen at dining tables in many homes.

Now you know how the poker chip came into light. It is not actually the game itself that brought it into this world, but it is the means of substituting the money waged in poker that made poker chips the way they are. It is an invention out of practicality and convenience, you might say.

The latest rage by poker aficionados and programmers is to create and use a poker bot that will automatically play online poker with little or no human interaction, with the ultimate goal of winning money. This recent craze has alarmed both online poker sites and players as the fear of a computer program with the capacity to win online poker will essentially be able to outsmart live thinking players of their hard-earned money and eventually rob the poker sites of quality players afraid to play against so many poker bots.

A recent industry study concluded that 12% of online poker players were apprehensive about or had completely stopped playing online poker in light of the recent poker bot craze. That essentially sends players offline rather than risk their money against these new computer-generated poker bots.

However, there are several ways to beat a poker bot in online poker, and knowing these methods will certainly give the human player back the edge against poker bots. One fact that makes a poker bot a better player is that they lack the human emotion or power of reasoning that a human must use when playing online poker. A poker bot is not apt to go on ’tilt’ or get angry when they are the victims of a bad beat.

In playing online poker, human players are up against two major advantages. One is the computer generated code created by the poker sites to determine shuffles, deals and outcomes of a hand, while the other disadvantage, just as dangerous to your bankroll, is the poker bot, that is pre-programmed with all the statistics and probabilities of the game.

Nevertheless, you can use the computer-generated codes of the poker sites and poker bots against them if you understand how they work. A poker bot is confined to making decisions based solely on the play of the game with regard to its statistical analysis of poker. In other words, a poker bot will only make decisions based on known patterns in the game.

Moreover, the online poker sites, which actively attempt to detect and thwart the efforts of poker bot programmers and users, have implemented a counter-measure to the poker bots, using the same known patterns. By implementing a counter measure to the poker bots, a poker site is able to ensure that a poker bot will not win since the poker bots actions are predictable and confined to a skill-set directly related to statistical odds and probability.

This, as confusing as it may seem, actually works to the advantage of the human player. While the poker site’s software is actively seeking the poker bot patterns and attempting to detect who is a human and who is a computer generated bot script, they also inadvertently implemented a flaw which allows a human player to take advantage of the online poker sites weakness.

In reality, this has resulted in a human player having the ability to not only beat the poker bot, but beat human opponents as well. By following a set pattern that the online poker sites are using, an advantage is created for anyone who is aware of that pattern. This pattern is known as a sequential algorithm and that algorithm dramatically has changed the poker game online to force wins and losses in a set, specific and predictable pattern.

It is not only plausible to beat a poker bot; it is easily accomplished by recognizing the patterns used by online poker sites. These patterns are simple to learn and require little skill by a human player. So the next time you think about playing poker online, consider using the codes and algorithms created by the poker site to your advantage. They are there to prevent the poker bots from winning, but not you!

The genesis of poker:

The exact age people actually started playing poker is heavily disputed. This game has many variations. So it is possible that it was born in several different places. It is common belief, however, that poker was invented by the Chinese way back in the 10th Century A.D.

People believe that poker came from Chinese dominoes. It is said that Emperor Mu-Tsang of China played a game of domino cards, a possible ancestor of poker, with his wife a day before the 969 A.D. new year.

Some others feel that poker in fact has its roots in as-nas, a Persian game. This game which was first played in and around the 17th century was a 5 player game and was unique in the fact that it had only 25 cards in the deck with 5 different suits.

Online poker is a billion dollar business. The thrill of sitting at home and playing poker has become an everyday event for millions of people all over the world. The World Poker Tour and similar tournaments have made people rich playing poker and they opened the door for online poker sites to start their own version of poker tournaments. Beginners, as well as seasoned players are spending money and a lot of time to win jackpots worth millions.

Poker playing is a combination of skill, focus and intuition, blended with an initial stake and a desire to win. Age, race, education and economic status are not as important as taking the first step and learning how to play the game the right way. Thanks to relatively new poker technology any player can become a seasoned winning veteran quickly by purchasing software called a poker robot, which is better known as a poker bot. The poker bot hooks up to any online poker site and is programmed to bet, raise, call, bluff or fold at the appropriate time during a game. The player can adjust the program to suit playing styles and the style of other players. Everything a player needs has been programmed into the bot, all the player needs to do is pick the online site and start winning.

Winning is not guaranteed by poker bot companies, although some poker bot makers strongly advertise their winning capabilities. Poker bots are legal, but there are some poker sites that don’t allow players to use them. If a poker bot is detected on a site that does not allow their use, the site will confiscate all winnings, as well as any money deposited in the account and will ban the player from the site There are new poker sites popping up daily and many of them condone the use of bots and even pay companies a commission to sell them to players. Some poker sites use poker bots to keep the tables in play during slow times or to fill a table when there are just a couple of real players playing.

Most poker players who invest in a poker bot want to win and make money. Marketing companies that sell bots claim a player can go from rags to riches using a poker bot, but most of the inexpensive bots on the market are not worth the investment. In order to find the right bot to win money, the first step is to do some research. All poker bots are not created equal, after all, they are software programs and they are only as good as the information that was used to program them. Most programmers understand the game, but if they knew how to win big money consistently, they would be playing, not building programs. There are other programs that are worth the investment because they have been designed by groups of University students who have share knowledge about different aspects of the game. Those groups, as well as others are creating great poker bots that keep getting better every year. Poker bots are not far behind new backgammon and chess bots that are designed to win every game and are almost unbeatable.

Poker bots that think and reason have not been created yet, but a big advantage of a poker bot is it can not be intimidated. Players will back off from aggressive players, bots will not. The good poker bots are programmed to do whatever it takes to win. In order to win money using a poker bot, a player must be able to identify where and who to play. Veteran players and big money games are use to poker bots and can hold there own playing against them. Low limit games and new players don’t have the experience or the focus to play against a poker bot and that is where a player has the best chance of winning consistently.

It’s better to win 10 small pots of $20 over an extended period of play than it is to play in a big game. Winning small pots on a daily basis in low limit games is the best strategy when using a bot, especially if you’re new to a site or have just started to play. As long as a poker bot is not undermining the confidence of other players or winning becomes too obvious and causes the site to investigate, a player can develop a money making strategy using a bot. In fact if a player finds four or five low limit games on different online sites, the bot can play for a good portion of each day and the winnings increase substantially.

People are winning big when they develop a system that works for them. Any player can win money consistently using a poker bot if a strategy is developed that contains research, patience, knowledge and a strong desire to win. Poker bots are changing the way poker is being played on online poker sites. It’s not people vs people vs computer anymore, it’s computer vs computer vs people and it may even come down to computer vs computers unless the online sites develop new guidelines, terms and conditions. Until that happens the poker bot is man’s new best poker friend and winning partner.

Online poker is defined as the type of the poker game played in the internet by either one person or a number of participants. The ease of accessibility is what has made on-line poker very popular because of its appealing nature that has seen many people turn to it as a major form of entertainment. It is estimated that in 2003 alone almost USD$ 35 million was collected in monthly revenue from on-line poker alone.

The game of poker has been going for many years, but the history of online poker – along with most other online games – is relatively short. Yet despite the relatively short length of the history of the game, it is an extremely rapid developing part of the entire online gambling industry which is not showing any signs of slowing down. While it is very popular in America, Europe is fast catching up too.

The history of online poker begins with the history of poker in general. The game of poker has been around for thousands of years with origins all over the world, from China to France to Persia and Spain. However, it wasn’t until 1834 that the game of Poker with the name of “Poker” was officially recorded. Jonathan H. Green wrote about “the cheating game” which was played on Mississippi riverboats. This game was played with only twenty cards, but evolved into modern day poker.

Online poker only dates back 9 years, to 1998 which was when the first games came on line. But the real milestone for the history of poker was 2002. A year later when the World Poker Tour was launched on America’s travel channel in March, poker really hit off. This was also true for when the World Series of Poker (WSOP) had its largest turn out over.

These events and others certainly contributed to the developing growth of the history of poker as more and more individuals found out about how fun the game was to play on line, and indeed, how lucrative it could be, especially when playing online poker tournaments. 2004 and 2005 saw a huge influx of additional online poker rooms and sites, many of which appealed to the masses, even the non-poker playing ones who started to show an interest in this new and exciting online game.
Poker is a game that is coordinated by gambling laws and regulations and is mainly played in casinos and card rooms. However, it has recently become available for play in online poker rooms. The introduction of poker to the Online has increased the popularity of the game a huge amount, but it didn’t start out so simply.

The history of online poker began in 1998, when the first online poker room was opened. Planetpoker.com was the first website in the history of online poker and as the first it had many obstacles to overcome. One of the main problems was trust-after all they had to build peoples’ trust in order to get them to play with real money on their site. They also had to work out software that would be user friendly and realistic. However, once they worked out these problems it was a smooth ride.

Probably one of the reasons the history of online poker developed so well was because of how enthusiastic poker professionals have been since the game’s inception on line. Such big names as Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, John Juanda, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, and Erick Lindgren are included in this list.

The history is now definitely well on the map, especially financially as the industry in America has reached over $2 billion. There are so many poker rooms today on line that pretty much at any time, 24/7, one is able to find a poker game of their choice. Whether you love 3 card poker, video poker, Texas Hold’em Poker, 7 card stud poker, 5 card draw poker, Omaha Hi-Lo poker, to name but a few, on line players will probably be able to find a game to satisfy and appeal.

Many online poker sites offer now offer numerous features that attract and appeal to new players. This new features are what are making raves in the world series of poker because the world of poker has now wakened to the realization that even on-line poker participants can also have a shot at the big game.

One similar feature offered by the online poker sites is the tournament referred to as “satellite”. This feature allows participants to gain actual access to real live poker tournaments. In a similar tournament Chris Moneymaker emerged the victor and was able to participate in the World Series of Poker in 2003. his victory shocked the whole world.

Recent figures have in fact projected that the revenue generated by on-line poker could reach as high as US$ 100 million target in 2005, and that online participants are estimated to reach 100,000 people.

In online poker, there is no doubt that the Texas hold-em poker is still considered the most popular. But it probably would not hold that spot for long, as Omaha hold-em is steadily gaining ground in the poker popularity contest. You’ll find many respectable poker rooms and other live dealer casinos offering the Omaha Poker version.Omaha hold-em, or simply Omaha, is the game of choice of a lot of poker players because it is perceived that the mathematical probabilities that poker nerds look forward to computing are more obvious there. Also, because these probabilities are more apparent, Omaha is said to be more of a game of wits than a game of chance.Another characteristic that makes Omaha distinct from the other kinds of poker games is that in Omaha, it is not always the player with the highest hand who wins the pot. The object of Omaha is to come up with both the highest and the lowest hand. The two players who got the highest and the lowest hand respectively get to split the pot. In some cases, two or more players tie in having the highest and lowest hand, and so they split the pot amongst themselves. Of course it is entirely possible for just the player with the highest hand to get the whole pot to him/herself.There are, however, restrictions as to how a hand of cards can be considered a low hand. First, the highest card in the hand should have a value not bigger than eight. Second, the five cards making up the hand should all be unpaired. In addition, in Omaha, a player makes up his/her hand, be it the highest or the lowest, using exactly two of his/her four hole cards and exactly three of the five community cards. Here is how Omaha is played, step by step:1. The dealer deals out the four hole cards to each player one at a time. Once all the players have their cards, an initial round of betting is made. The person to the left of the dealer makes the small blind and the one to his/her left makes the big blind. The other players can then check the big blind, raise it, or fold.2. After this first betting round is done, the dealer draws out the first three community cards, also called the flop. Another betting round happens, with players raising, checking or folding. Afterwards, the dealer draws the fourth community card, called the turn, which is then followed by another betting round with the subsequent raising, checking or folding. The same happens with the fifth community card, also known as the river.3. The showdown happens among the players who have not folded after the river is placed down. Again, the players use exactly two of the hole cards and exactly three of the community cards. The players with the highest and the lowest hand win the pot and split it among themselves. If there are no hands that qualified for the lowest hand, then the player who got the highest hand gets to have the pot entirely to him/herself.
